The vinyl wrapping process is similar
to Thermoforming . It uses heat, vacuum, and pressure to form
vinyl sheet material into a shape that is determined by the
part structure. The sheet of material is heated to a temperature
at which it softens, but is below the melting point of the
material. It is then stretched to cover the part that has
been treated with a heat sensitive adhesive. The vacuum removes
the air so that the vinyl takes the exact contour of the part.
The part is cooled, the excess vinyl material is trimmed and
wrapped behind the edge.
Because there are
many forming and wrapping techniques along with a wide range
of materials, we can accommodate your vinyl wrapping and thermoforming
needs.
These dashboards
were manufactured using a molded substrate and then vinyl
wrapped. This was all done 'in-house' at Molded Plastic Industries.
